Lost in last week’s rain delays and normal football hoopla was one of the coolest high school mascots I’ve seen.

Bishop McLaughlin faced the Cornerstone Charter Academy Fighting Ducks - which is better than the Cornerstone Charter Academy Sitting Ducks, I suppose. They’re either mallards or fans of Oregon, judging by their awesome green heads.

So I ask: What Florida school has the coolest logo, mascot or nickname? Obviously the Tarpon Springs Spongers and Key West Conchs make the list. What else?

For the record, I’m not sure anything beats the mascot of a college dormmate from downstate Illinois: the Hoopeston Cornjerkers. Phrases on the school’s website include “Home of the Jerky” and “Fear the Ear.” I don’t know about you, but I’m shaking in my flip-flops.
