Larry T. and Catman win final week; Haggard captures regular season title
I finally figured out how to keep the Pick-Em challenge under 100 participants! REQUIRE EMAIL ADDRESSES!!! Where was everyone this week?
Despite a low turn-out of 50 pickers or so, the first-ever HomeTeam Pick-Em Challenge has wrapped up its regular season, with two new weekly winners and a title and No. 1 playoff seed for Don Haggard.
Catman played his way into the playoffs with a victory, correctly picking 19 games out of 20. That's clutch, because without the victory he would be sitting at home watching the playoffs on TV, if the HomeTeam Playoff Spectacular was, well, on TV. He tied LarryT this week, who also picked 19 games corectly. The only game both the near-perfect pickers missed was choosing Calvary Christian to beat St. Petersburg Catholic.
One of pickers may or may not have a son playing at Clearwater Central Catholic, and therefore contractually bound to pick against the Barons. Not sure what Catman's deal was, though.
LarryT was already in the playoffs, but his win will improve his seeding. Here's the old seeding and what is kind of a definition of how the playoffs will work: CLICK ME.
And Don Haggard went 18-2, breaking a tie at the top with Tom Ketchum, who was 17-3. That gives give Haggard the No. 1 seed and designation as the first-ever HomeTeam Pick-Em Regular Season Champ, which will pale in comparison to my Playoff Spectacular title but still something he will tell his grandkids about years from now.
I'm working of final seedings and first-round playoff match-ups now.
