Under Armour: Is TE Josh McNeil committed to LSU? Bama? Neither?

4

January

The hardest part of covering recruiting – by far – is knowing what’s true and what isn’t. Did someone really get an offer from School X? Did he really commit? Is someone being misled?

Consider Josh McNeil, a standout tight end from tonight’s Under Armour All-America Game.

The official roster provided by ESPN – which televised the all-star event – listed the 6-foot-5, 226-pound North Carolina native as an Alabama commit. Cool.

Except Rivals doesn’t even have the Crimson Tide as one of McNeil’s offers.

And McNeil said he has a “strong, strong commitment to LSU.”

For the record, McNeil – Rivals’ No. 10 tight end – said he liked the family atmosphere with the Tigers and is done with making official visits.

Regardless of his future, McNeil has a bright future. He said he had a rough week of practice after tweaking his hamstring, but he rejuvenated himself with an ice bath last night.

McNeil slid for a 6-yard TD catch tonight in Team Highlight’s 16-3 win over Nitro.

“It felt good to score the only touchdown in the game,” McNeil said.
