HomeTeam Hot Shots: Nominations for Oct. 15-21

Each week, our HomeTeam staffers nominate male and female Hot Shot athletes from each of the counties we cover. Then we turn the voting over to readers. These nominations span Saturday, Oct. 15 through Friday, Oct. 21. Read up on all of our nominees then vote until noon Monday.

Female nominees

Taylor Dedman, golf, Plant City: Dedman shot eve- par 72 at the Class 3A, Region 5 tournament to qualify for the state tournament. Dedman, who transferred from Seminole, shot the low round at the tournament.

Annaklara Doel, swimming, East Lake: The senior won the 200 IM (2:09.78) and the 500 free (4:58.93) at the Class 3A, District 8 meet to help the Eagles finish third overall.

Mariella Haimes, volleyball, Mitchell: The junior had 10 kills and two blocks as she led the Mustangs to their fifth straight district title with a three-game sweep over Sunlake in the Class 7A-8 title game. 

Kirbea Harrell, volleyball, Fivay: The junior outside hitter finished with a match-high nine kills to lead the Falcons to a three-game sweep over upstart Gulf in the Class 6A, District 8 title game.

Alyssa Lamoureux, golf, Seminole: Lamoureux shot 2-over 74 at the Class 3A, Region 4 tournament at Lansbrook GC to earn medalist honors by six shots. She will attempt to defend her state championship starting Tuesday in Howey-in-the-Hills.

Gabriela Quarles, volleyball, Carrollwood Day: Quarles had 18 kills and four aces to help the Patriots come back from a two set deficit against the Tampa Bay HEAT on Thursday night to win the Class 3A, District 4 championship.

Male nominees

Alex Ogle, golf, Berkeley Prep: The sixth-grader made a hole-in-one on the 157-yard seventh hole at Carrollwood Country Club during regionals. It was his first-ever ace and he finished his round shooting 85.

Mikey Roussos, football, River Ridge: The versatile playmaker scored four touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing, one passing) and had 131 all-purpose yards in a 47-0 win over Anclote.

Dalton Shettle, golf, Canterbury: The senior fired 3-under 69 at Carrollwood Country Club to qualify for the state tournament. He was the only golfer in the field to shoot under par.

Daniel Teske, swimming, Strawberry Crest:  At the Class 4A, District 5 meet, Teske won the 100 fly (52.58) and the 100 back (54.37) and swam a leg on the winning 200 medley relay (1:41.56).

Travis Wells, golf, Sunlake: Wells won medalist honors at the region tournament at Crescent Oaks Country Club, shooting 1-over 73. Wells qualified as an individual for the state tournament on Nov. 1-2.

Jalynn Williams, football, St. Petersburg: The all-purpose junior ran for 186 yards on six carries and scored twice in a 39-6 win over Countryside that clinched the Class 7A, District 10 runnerup spot for the Green Devils.
