Lakewood F Siyana Allen out for season
On the day she signed her college letter of intent to play at Lamar University, Lakewood forward Siyana Allen found out her high school playing days are over. Allen tore her MCL in the first quarter of Monday’s season opener against Northeast and will be out at least three months, she said.
“I felt a snap," Allen said. “The doctor said it’s going to be three months. Nothing I can do."
Allen was the Tampa Bay Times' Pinellas Player of the Year as a junior. She averaged 24.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. She played mostly point guard last season but was moved to her natural position of forward this season. She has been a starter since her freshman year, when Lakewood went to the Class 5A state semifinals.
Lakewood will also be without forward Sarah Snell for a week due to a concussion.
