Land O'Lakes sweeps titles at the SAC swim meet
Land O’Lakes continued its swimming monopoly at the Sunshine Athletic Conference meet by sweeping the team titles.
The girls won their eighth straight conference title and the boys took their 16th straight title.
Taylor Ward led the Gators in the girls meet, winning the 200 free (1:55.53) and the 500 free (5:03.89) with times that were just shy of the meet records she set in each event last year. Ward also swam legs on the winning 200 medley relay (1:44.16) and 400 free relay (3:46.53) that both set meet records.
Wesley Chapel’s Abbey Duncan, a former state champion who moved back to the area this year, was dominant in both of her individual events, setting meet records with first-place finishes in the 100 fly (57.76) and the 100 back (57.12).
Sunlake’s Chloe Grimm was the only other Pasco County girls swimmer who won multiple titles, finishing first in the 50 free (24.51) and 100 free (54.12).
In the boys meet, two state champions from last season, Land O’Lakes Jabari Ramsey and Gulf’s Manden Smith, both did well.
Ramsey won the 100 fly (55.34) and the 100 breast (1:02.03). Smith took first in the 50 free (21.96) and the 100 free (48.08).
The other boys champion in multiple events was Wiregrass Ranch’s Douglas Lankton, who won the 200 free (1:54.14) and the 500 free (5:15.32).
