Northside Christian cancels spring football game
For the second straight season, Northside Christian will not play its spring football game.
Coach Mike Alstott was forced to cancel the game Saturday at Ocala Trinity Catholic due to injuries on the offensive and defensive lines. Alstott said three defensive linemen and two offensive linemen have missed practices due to various injuries, which leaves the line too thin to play a game.
“I can’t put them through that predicament," Alstott said. “It just doesn’t make sense."
Last season, Northside Christian had a home spring game scheduled against Sarasota Out-of-Door Academy. But a heavy rain shower just before game time made the field unplayable and the game was cancelled.
The Mustangs will use the allotted 20 practices during the spring.
