Report: Former Pasco star Janarion Grant out for year
Former Pasco High standout Janarion Grant, a Rutgers senior and the Scarlet Knights' top offensive weapon, reportedly will miss the season after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's loss to Iowa.
NJ Advance Media, citing anonymous sources, reported Grant -- who injured his right ankle at the end of a 76-yard catch-and-run, is out for the remainder of the year. He was spotted wearing a cast and using crutches in the second half of the Scarlet Knights' 14-7 loss.
Rutgers coach Chris Ash isn't expected to address the injury until Monday.
Grant accounts for 35.1 percent of Rutgers' all-purpose yards this season, with 138 rushing, 210 receiving, 112 on punt returns and 195 on kick returns. He also threw a 21-yard touchdown pass on a trick play.
Grant graduated in 2013 with 77 career touchdowns, believed to be the most in North Suncoast (Pasco/Hernando) history. He rarely came off the field for Pasco, helping the Pirates to the Class 5A state semifinals in 2011 and region finals a year later.
