Class 6A: Largo (22-6) vs. Fort Lauderdale Dillard (27-5); 1:30 p.m. Saturday

How they got there: Largo d. Punta Gorda Charlotte 82-71, d. Port Charlotte 77-74, d. Naples Palmetto Ridge 67-60, d. Pensacola 56-54; Dillard d. Okeechobee 68-52, d. Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson 55-52, d. Miami Norland 59-47, d. Deltone 56-44.

Top players: Largo:  G Dakarai Allen, Sr., (17.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists); F Brandon Drayton, Sr., (9.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists); G Amant Deliu (11.3 points, 3.7 assists; Dillard: Jordan Wright (20 points, 4 rebounds)

Outlook: Largo is in the championship game for the first time. Close games have been the Packers’ forte with three of their postseason wins decided by single digits. A big reason for Largo’s playoff success has been the ability to hit free throws. The Packers were 18-of-28 in free throws against Pensacola. Allen, the team’s leading scorer, hit 11-of-17, including his final two that clinched the win. The Panthers are in the championship game for the first time since 2008 when they won the Class 5A title. It was a difficult road to get here with Dillard having to knock off four-time defending state champion Miami Norland in the region final. The Panthers play stellar defense, holding each of their past five opponents to 52 points or fewer.
