Shorecrest's boys, St. Petersburg's girls win team swim titles at City Meet.
Shorecrest’s boys and St. Petersburg’s girls each won team swim titles at the St. Petersburg City Meet.
The Chargers’ Dominic Hoefer was the diving champion with 356.90 and teammates Jake Andrews, Corey Cureton, Jack Lavely and Joseph Brockman were on the winning 400 free relay (3:33.09). But most of Shorecrest’s 455.50 points came from its superior depth. After all, the Chargers placed in the top four in every event.
Lakewood’s Jonathan Long won the 50 free (22.49) and 100 free (50.74). His brother, Ethan, took first in the 200 free (1:50.32) and 500 free (4:59.29). Both were part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:45.58) and 200 free relay (1:34.60) teams.
Northeast’s Colton Gray was a champion in the 200 individual medley (2:05.50) and 100 back (56.31).
On the girls side, the Green Devils won with 456 points. St. Petersburg was led by distance specialist Peyton Palsha, who followed up her dominant performance at the Pinellas County Athletic Conference meet by winning city titles in the 200 free (1:51.62) and the 500 free (4:56.87). The Green Devils other champion was Lauren LaPeter in diving with 421.60 points.
The other girls who won multiple events were Northside Christian’s Lindsey Leadbetter in the 100 fly (1:02.60) and 100 back (1:00.25) and Northeast’s Amanda Burrows in the 200 individual medley (2:13.64) and 100 free (55.21). Burrows also anchored the winning 200 free relay team (1:45.78).
