What I'm reading: Transfers and Bronson Arroyo
Two interesting stories from last week’s Sports Illustrated:
* We talk a lot about high school athletes transferring schools, especially in light of the state legislation last year and new policies in Hillsborough and Pasco. SI looked at that more, focusing on top 100 basketball prospects from the last seven years.
The highlight? In 2007, about a quarter of those top recruits changed high schools at least once. Last year, more than half did. And the players who transferred in high school are, not surprisingly, more likely to transfer in college. I’ll let you decide whether that’s good, bad or neither, but check out SI’s data here and a feature here.
* Also, SI recently profiled Hernando alum Bronson Arroyo, who’s still in the big leagues with the Reds.
