ABC may about to be Thorpedoed.

Now that Private Practice is long gone, ABC is once again turning to a potential spinoff to help fill out its lineup. This time they're discussing building a show on Rob Riggle's obnoxious real estate agent from Modern Family. At least Phil Dunphy had his own show first this time.

The sitcom's executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh would work on the show and write the script for a series based on Gil Thorpe, the chief rival of Ty Burrell's Phil, Deadline Hollywood says. Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan might work on it too, but counterpart Christopher Lloyd will probably not.

Riggle's character was featured in two episodes last season, most notably the episode in which Phil tried to sell his wife's house flip. The plans are still in the very early stages, the site says, and may be only one of several ideas. May we suggest a spinoff about Haley going to community college? Or has that been done already?
