Adam Levine gets into a Twitter fight with Lady Gaga, sort of
There's a real pop music slapfight going on over the Twitterwaves, because Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine is ranting about Lady Gaga for some inexplicable reason. You guys do realize you're both rich, mainstream performers, right?
"Ugh..recycling old art for a younger generation doesn't make you an artist. It makes you an art teacher," Levine complained Friday. He was ostensibly complaining about Gaga's new video for Applause, which we've all seen by now (watch it below if you haven't). E! notes the video references the 1957 movie The Seventh Seal and Sandro Botticelli's painting The Birth of Venus. "I unabashedly love writing and performing pop music for both myself AND everyone around me. That's It. It doesn't need any extra sauce," he continued.
Gaga apparently replied to him, tweeting, "uh oh guys the art police is here". That only set him off even more on Tuesday.
"by the way, im NOT an artist. i sing in a band and i make music with my friends," he wrote. Then, because Gaga should have used "are" instead of "is" he added, "while we're at it we should call the grammar police." BAM!
Meanwhile, anyone who doesn't know the lyrics to Bad Romance or watch The Voice moved on with their lives. The end.
