Alec Baldwin calls Twitter 'another chink in your armor for people to kill you'
It's been a few days since Alec Baldwin completely melted down on Twitter again, calling a British journalist a "toxic little queen" for writing that Baldwin's wife Hilaria Thomas was tweeting at James Gandolfini's funeral. But he wants you to know it's not his fault. No, it's social media's fault. Damn social media.
Alec told Vanity Fair he had no desire whatsoever to return to Twitter: "Never. No. I went to Jimmy Gandolfini’s funeral, and when I was there I realized Jimmy Gandolfini didn’t have Twitter. Jimmy Gandolfini was so beloved as a person, and he was so admired as an actor, and he didn’t give a fuck about social media," Baldwin said.
"I really learned a lesson at the funeral. I said to myself, This is all a waste of time. Meaning it’s fun sometimes, but less and less, and less. It’s just another chink in your armor for people to come and kill you. I stopped and said to myself, I’m going to try where I just don’t do this anymore."
Of course, Vanity Fair's Bennett Marcus doesn't ask Baldwin if he ever considered perhaps not losing his temper online, but that's silly. Marcus had to confirm Baldwin wasn't quitting acting first.
