Now that all of late-night TV is in the middle of a shakeup to rival the time Monday Night Football thought it'd be cute to hire Dennis Miller, why not throw out some names for who might get shuffled into the deck after Jimmy Fallon takes over for Jay Leno next year? The New York Times has decided it wants to put Alec Baldwin in that pot. So that's what happens to Jack Donaghy.

The Times says Baldwin was in initial talks to take Carson Daly's spot on Last Call, the latest of all NBC late shows. What that means for Daly is anyone's guess. Maybe he'd get Fallon's spot, maybe he wouldn't.

The Times cites an executive familiar with the matter who didn't want to be named, but we can think of worse hosts. Baldwin's affable enough when he's not threatening to kill photographers, and keeps saying he wants to stop acting, anyway. Besides, who will know that late at night?
