Ang Lee to direct TV pilot 'Tyrant' for FX after third Oscar
If you’re Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, how do you follow up your triumph Life of Pi? By making a pilot for the FX network, natch. Because all people in Hollywood really want to do is work in television.
Tyrant will be a big-time pilot from Homeland producers Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff, Deadline.com says, and Lee will make his TV directorial debut with the show, as well as serve as executive producer. “Ang Lee has demonstrated time and again an ability to present characters with such depth and specificity that they reveal the universal human condition,” FX president John Landgraf said. “No one could be a more perfect filmmaker to bring Howard Gordon, Gideon Raff, and Craig Wright’s Tyrant to indelible life.”
No, wait, Indelible Life will probably be the title of his next movie project, which will be about a foreign-born director’s successful attempt to make the Hollywood cognescenti forget all about that horrible Hulk movie he made. Forgot about that, didn't you? Don't worry, we all tried.
