Blink-182 confirms new album, apologizes for delay
The Rock Show isn’t over for Blink-182, despite what their procrastination may have led their fan base to believe.
The band announced on Instagram Tuesday that they are indeed recording a new album, albeit after many a delay.
“Rehearsals start today…” Tom Delonge captioned a photo of his younger self with bandmates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. “And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink.”
In May 2013, Delonge said the band was working on new material, with a planned release date set for mid-2014. Obviously that didn’t happen.
Later that year, the guys said they hoped to have some new material ready before the Reading and Leeds festival in August. But in early 2014, Hoppus tweeted that the band was still working on demos and Barker told OC Weekly that the band needed to “get their shit together” before an album would see the light of day.
So, it’s been quite the irritating ride for Blink fans. But you know what they say: Good things come to those who wait and wait and wait.
