Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie finally tie the knot
The wedding we’ve all been waiting for — mostly by saying, ugh, is this never going to happen — has happened!
Brad Pitt, 50, and Angelina Jolie, 39, got married Saturday in France in a private ceremony, a spokesman told the Associated Press.
We’re not surprised that they tried to keep it secret, especially given that Pitt made a point some years back that they wouldn’t get married until gay marriage was legal, but we are surprised that they somehow managed to keep it hidden for five days.
The couple didn’t seem to have much of a honeymoon, either. Also not surprising, given that they have six kids. Pitt was back to work Thursday for his new movie Fury, a World War II drama out Oct. 17, and was spotted at an England event for it with a new ring on his finger.
But enough about that. What you really want to know is the details of the wedding, right?
The “nondenominational civil ceremony” took place Saturday in a small chapel at Provence’s Chateau Miraval, a vineyard estate owned by the Jolie-Pitts.
The couple, who got engaged in 2012 after seven years together (that’s patience!), obtained a marriage license in California from a judge who also presided over the wedding in France, according to the Associated Press.
The kids were involved, the one thing that we totally did expect.
“We’re just waiting for it to be the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right,” Jolie told People in May. “We talk about it occasionally, and the kids talk about it with us. … It will be fun. That’s the important thing. When we do it, it will feel like a great day for our family.”
That it was.
Oldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, walked Jolie down the aisle. Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw flower petals. Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers, the spokesman says.
Good thing they found a role for each kid. We were kinda worried they’d forget one.
This is the second marriage for Pitt, who wed Jennifer Aniston in 2000. They divorced in ’05.
It’s the third marriage for Jolie, who was married to actor Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary) from 1996 to 1999 and to Billy Bob Thornton from 2000 to 2003.
Now we just sit back and await some brave soul to leak Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s wedding photos.
