Brad Pitt has responded to some comments Melissa Etheridge made about Angelina Jolie's preventive mastectomy, but it's really not all that confrontational. Melissa and Brad are friends, after all.

During an interview with the Washington Blade, Etheridge mentioned she didn't quite agree with Jolie's decision.

"I have to say I feel a little differently. I have that gene mutation too and it’s not something I would believe in for myself. I wouldn’t call it the brave choice," the 52-year-old breast cancer survivor said. "I actually think it’s the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer. My belief is that cancer comes from inside you and so much of it has to do with the environment of your body. It’s the stress that will turn that gene on or not."

Pitt told Us Weekly on Monday that he hadn't read the interview, but wasn't worried. "Melissa's an old friend of mine," he said. I'm sure we'll talk on the phone. I don't know what it is." He added he didn't agree with the singer, who performed at his wedding to Jennifer Aniston in 2000.

"I think it's an individual decision and I found it very empowering instead of scary," he told Us. "We experienced the exact opposite." Of course, we doubt Melissa will be singing at Brad's eventual wedding to Angelina, but we're just guessing that would have been true anyway.
