'Buckwild' cast member Shain Gandee found dead in West Virginia
Shain Gandee, a 21-year-old cast member of MTV’s Buckwild, was found dead with two people in a vehicle in Sissonville, W. Va. on Monday morning, the network reports. Foul play is not suspected, so we can only guess what that means. It hasn't been a good year for the show, because fellow cast member Salwa Amin has been arrested twice in connection with oxycodone and heroin.
A second person found dead was Gandee’s 48-year-old uncle, David Gandee, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said. The third person remains unidentified. Shain and his uncle were last seen at a bar at 3 a.m. Sunday morning, when they told people they were going off-roading, MTV reports.
“The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death and they will release that information,” Cpl. Brian Humphreys said. There was no evidence any other vehicles were in the area, which was remote and had to be accessed by police on ATVs.
“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident,” MTV said in a statement. “We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”
Buckwild, meanwhile, has been renewed for a second season.
