Carrie Fisher was joking about being Princess Leia in the next 'Star Wars'

First Harrison Ford said he’d rejoin the Star Wars saga in the next trilogy if asked. Then he was supposedly confirmed to be in it. Then Mark Hamill said he, Ford and Carrie Fisher have all been asked to be in Episode VII. And then this week, Fisher told Palm Beach Illustrated that yes, she’d be returning. Well, wait, that last part not so much.

Fisher told PBI that Princess Leia would be likely be in a nursing home but would “be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.” Turns out she was just goofing around, so boy, are we glad we didn’t share that news when we read it.

“She was joking,” her rep told CNN. “Nothing has been announced.” In fact, a Lucasfilm rep told CNET, “Even though there are a few reports out there about casting for Episode VII, we are not making any announcements at this time.” So you can figure the Han Solo thing may officially be hooey at the moment, too. Because Disney don’t play around with people giving away Mouse House secrets.
