Cast of 'Jem and the Holograms' has been chosen
We sure hope Aubrey Peeples knows how to act outrageous — truly, truly, truly outrageous — because the Nashville star just landed every girl of the ’80s dream role: Jerrica Benton a.k.a Jem! The 20-year-old up and comer will play the pink-haired lead in Jon M. Chu’s live action adaptation of Jem and the Holograms, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
But wait, there’s more. The Holograms have also been cast. Stefanie Scott of Disney’s A.N.T. Farm will play Jem’s sister Kimber, Aurora Perrineau of Pretty Little Liars will play Shana and Hayley Kiyoko of The Fosters will play Aja.
And that leaves no room for us, which makes us a little sad. But Jem!
The film — based on the 1980s Hasbro toy line that was also the most ultimate of all glam rock cartoons — has already begun shooting. The movie is being made “for a whole new generation with themes of being true to who you are in a multitasking, hyperlinked social media age.”
