Christmas comes early for Ice-T and Coco — and baby Chanel
Poor Ice-T and Coco. The birth of their daughter was totally overshadowed by Anne Hathaway’s baby news. So, honorable mention goes to the couple who welcomed baby girl Chanel Nicole at 11:47 a.m. on Saturday.
The Englewood, N.J., native weighed in at 5 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 18 inches long, the pair’s rep told People.
“Surprise!!! Look who came early!! Welcome the new arrival of Chanel Nicole,” Nicole “Coco” Austin announced on Twitter. “A beautiful healthy 5.7 pound baby girl.”
Added the rapper, “Ladies and Gentlemen! Please allow me to introduce to the World … Baby Chanel 5.7 pounds. Love is Love.”
Chanel is the first child for the couple and the third for 57-year-old Ice-T, dad to adult kids Tracy and Letesha.
In shocking news, the couple are already spoiling little Chanel.
“She’s a shoe freak already,” Coco said. “She has a vast collection of shoes. It’s pretty amazing,” adding, “I just think, mom has a nice closet, why not Chanel have a nice closet? She’s already got her little ready-made heels (to be) walked out the hospital with.”
Chanel also has a Twitter account — an active one.
“This is me when I just touched down chillin with mom,” her account read on Saturday. “I love her. Dads cool too!”
Coco seems pretty excited about this new chapter.
“I think it’s time. I think I’m in that stage in my life where I need this,” she said. “I’ve done everything in my life pretty much career-wise and … I’ve been in a happy marriage for 15 years. It feels really, really good. It’s time for me to make this big jump. I can’t wait to have a little character running around the house. It’s just meant to be.”
Chanel arrived a few weeks early, as Coco was just 37 weeks along. Just hours before going into labor, Coco wrote on Instagram, “This baby is coming early, a mother’s intuition.”
The former model and current co-host of Ice & Coco fought off rumors throughout her pregnancy that she was never actually with child.
“In response to the critics of my small baby bump, the thing I constantly ask my doctor, 'Am I healthy? What is going on? Have you seen this before?’ My doctor says yes,” Coco wrote on her pregnancy blog for E! News. “My doctor says yes, athletes look like this all the time because they have such strong abs muscles that it takes longer for the bump to pop out. I almost feel like I got gypped a little because women start seeing something of a baby bump at four to five months. I didn’t see anything until eight months.”
But she brushed off the criticism.
“There were a lot of unbelievers along the way but honestly I’m used to that. Thanks to all the lovers that have been interested with my journey from the beginning and also a true 'Coco fan.’ I wish I could hug every one of you,” she wrote on Instagram.
