Church of Scientology angry about missing person report allegedly filed by Leah Remini
Former Scientologist Leah Remini has run afoul of the church after filing a missing persons report to find church leader David Miscavige's wife, Shelly, TMZ says. Now that Shelly has turned up, the church has plenty to say about what they call "an inexcusable distraction for the LAPD."
The police confirmed to TMZ on Thursday there was ongoing investigation to find Shelly Miscavige, but only unnamed sources said it was Remini who filed the report with the department last month. Previous reports about Remini's split with the church say Remini left after being subjected to ridicule of some fashion after questioning Shelly's whereabouts. Reports have said Shelly Miscavige hasn't been seen in public for the past six years.
Well, except when the LAPD located her and closed the investigation, saying the report was "unfounded." The site says police met with Mrs. Miscavige face to face. The church then told TMZ the entire incident was ridiculous.
"This is just harassment," a church representative told the site. "It is a publicity stunt cooked up by a small band of unemployed fanatics who live on the fringe of the Internet."
Now we'll have to see if Leah is going to cause any trouble, or if she's the one who ends up going missing.
