27 suspended over Clooney chart fiasco

Tbdgeorgeclooney101107 The Palisades Medical center in New Jersey has suspended 27 workers for allegedly leaking the word that George Clooney had been admitted after last month’s motorcycle accident, wire services report.

The suspension, for peeking at the actor’s medical charts, is slated to last four weeks. No physicians were given the punishment, and the Health Professional and Allied Employees union is protesting the move.

“While we believe that individuals need to be held accountable if they violated patient privacy, we also believe that the hospital had a responsibility to establish proper systems to protect patient privacy,” union spokeswoman Jeanne Otersen said. Try not looking at things that don’t belong to you.

As for Clooney (shown with accident-mate Sarah Larson), he’s sorry there was so much interest in his broken rib: “While I very much believe in a patient’s right to privacy, I would hope that this could be settled without suspending medical workers.”
