Actor Zachary Quinto confirms he is 'a gay man'
Star Trek and Heroes actor Zachary Quinto has been playing the "is he or isn't he?" game with the Hollywood rumor mill for years now, but he recently confirmed in a New York magazine interview what everyone has been wondering: He's gay. Great, can we go back to not being at all concerned yet?
While discussing his eight months working in theater for the Pulitzer Prize-winning Tony Kushner AIDS drama Angels in America, Quinto spilled the beans, saying, "Doing that play made me realize how fortunate I am to have been born when I was born. And to not have to witness the decimation of an entire generation of amazingly talented and otherwise vital men." He then added, "And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like there's still so much work to be done, and there's still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed."
Wow, pretty unremarkable confession, right? He also discussed bullying and gay marriage, and amazingly, the world did not burst into flame. He did talk about his new movie Margin Call, though, which is the first film produced by his Before the Door Pictures. Oh right, he's a producer, too. Let's all focus more on that, and hope he makes a Star Trek sequel before too long.
