Al Gore and wife Tipper separating after 40 years
In a breakup far more jarring than Arlen Specter leaving the Republicans but much less expected than Joe Lieberman leaving the Democrats, Al Gore and his wife Tipper are separating after 40 years of marriage. It's been a long time since the kiss at the 2000 DNC.
The decision was made "after a great deal of thought and discussion," the Gores said in a statement released by their office on Tuesday. "This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further."
Of course, this will lead to rampant speculation as to what caused the split/ We can see Al becoming more and more of a prima donna since winning his oscar and grammy, so it wouldn't surprise us if that was the reason. Or maybe, as Juice* reader H-Dawg puts it, she got sick of Al referring to her weight gain as "the Tipp-ing Point."
