Alec Baldwin wants to quit acting in 2012
All you 30 Rock fans should know that the series will likely be over somewhere around 2012, because Alec Baldwin says he's giving up acting when his contract expires after that year. No more Jack Donaghy? It's good to know the Mayans were right about something.
"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," the 51-year-old told Men's Journal. "Movies are part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else."
That something else may include politics, since The Juice* reported back in July he had sorta been considering the Ohio governorship, but not really. But what was so bad about his movies?
"It's a difficult thing to say, but I believe it: I consider my entire movie career a complete failure," he said. "I'll tell you why. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."
Oh come on, his impression of Sean Connery made The Hunt for Red October what it is. Too bad Harrison Ford and even Ben Affleck played Jack Ryan in those other Tom Clancy movies. That would make us want to quit, too.
