Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr from Celebrity Rehab found dead
Former Alice in Chains bass player Mike Starr, whom last we saw as a member of Celebrity Rehab, was found dead in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, CNN reports. The 44-year-old's cause death hasn't been released.
Former bandmates Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney issued a statement reading, "Jerry and Sean are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy – and the privacy of Mike's family – during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with Mike's family." Alice in Chains' original singer, Layne Staley, died of a drug overdose in 2002.
Starr, who was arrested for drug possession last month in the city, was on the third season of Celebrity Rehab in 2009. Dr. Drew Pinsky responded via his Twitter account, @drdrew, by writing, "Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family."
