Amanda Lucas, George's daughter, called off MMA fight because opponent was too fat
It always takes us a couple days to follow up on juicy sports-related items, mostly because it takes a while to wade through baby news and bikini shots, but hey, did you know George Lucas' oldest adopted daughter is an MMA fighter? You could have seen her last Saturday at Freestyle Cage Fighting 46 in Shawnee, Okla., but her opponent was too fat to fight. Bummer.
After Amanda Lucas' adversary Heather Martin came in 13 pounds overweight: "While she was willing to fight tomorrow, she was in no condition to," Lucas told MMAFighting.com back on Friday. "I came to fight at 165 pounds and fighting at 180 pounds or whatever amount she ended up at was not what I came to do. ... This is a professional sport, one I take seriously, and in which I dedicate my life to. To fight someone in her condition or to fight someone way beyond the contracted weight is bad for both myself, and women's MMA."
Little did we (or most other people) know, but Lucas has a 1-1 professional fighting record, and this was to be her first match since Nov. 2009, since she was off getting married. The 30-year-old says she'll be back sooner than later, but for now we'll have to add yet another Google alert to find out when that is. And here we thought dad's prequels were a gut punch ...
