Amanda Seyfried says she wouldn't starve herself for a role
Amanda Seyfried will be making a splash as an adult Cosette in Les Miserables, but her interview with InStyle leads us to believe she and Anne Hathaway (who plays her mother Fantine) don't see eye to eye on the whole acting thing. It seems Amanda is just too good to do some things for a role, you see.
When the magazine asked her if she'd cut her hair down to the scalp (as Hathaway famously did, because Fantine sells her own hair to care for her daughter), that was one thing. "I would have done that for sure," Seyfried said. But as for Anne's dramatic weight loss? Pass. "I probably wouldn't lose or gain weight for a role, though. I’m too health-conscious. And I don’t think I could actually lose weight because I couldn’t be on that kind of a diet. I would lose my mind."
Hathaway told Vogue awhile back she lost 15 pounds in two weeks by eating nothing but dried oatmeal paste. It's interesting Amanda would say she was "too health-conscious" for a stunt like that, however, because we don't think the weight loss had anything to do with Anne's lifestyle. As far as we know, Hathaway was just trying to play a woman so desperate, she starved herself and sold her front teeth. She's not going to look very healthy after that. But, you know, it's just an acting career, right?
