New Year's Day was full of highs and lows for American Idol winner Kris Allen, because he, his actress wife Katy Allen and their dog Zorro were in a pretty nasty car accident, which he announced on Twitter. Right along with the news that he had a broken wrist. And that his wife is pregnant.

"Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy" he tweeted on Tuesday. He then added, "Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe."

Ever watchful of his newfound fans, he was quick to point out, "Don't worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the #OutAliveTour is still on." He posted a photo of his car, which looks like an awful mess, but his mom Kimberly is the one who posted a pic of the singer all casted up: "From Kris: he's in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollsion"

There's no further word on how far along Katy is, but we've got to think Ford is probably cutting Kris a royalty check right now. We'd wish him better circumstances for a birth announcement, however.
