Amy Winehouse pleads not guilty to assault

Tbdamywinehouse031809 Leave it to Amy Winehouse to make a simple court hearing into a spectacle. Those Brits must not have anything to do than pay attention to that walking disaster (and neither, apparently, do we).

The AP says Wino showed up at the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court to answer assault charges stemming from an incident at a gala last fall, posing for the cameras, covering her cleavage in a faux show of modesty and generally enjoying the fact that people still cared.

She simply confirmed her name (Amy Jade Civil, she said, despite the fact that Blake Fielder-Civil has filed for divorce) and birthdate, and pleaded not guilty, the AP reports. Judge Timothy Workman ordered Winehouse to attend a new hearing at the same court on July 23. She was released on unconditional bail, which may end up being the ruling Workman regrets the most when he retires.
