Andrea Fay Friedman, who has Down syndrome, says Sarah Palin needs to lighten up about her 'Family Guy' role

Tbd-amandafayfriedman022210 The Juice* really tries to stay out of politics, so we ignored Sarah Palin admonishing Seth MacFarlane and his Family Guy cronies for an episode last week in which Chris Griffin dates a girl with Down syndrome. We didn't care she called them "heartless jerks" and "cruel, cold-hearted people." But hey, guess what? The woman who provided the voice has Down syndrome, and she wants Sarah Palin to shut the hell up. BAM!

Andrea Fay Friedman, who played Ellen in the Feb. 14 episode, says Palin needs to chill about people ganging up on her son Trig, who has the genetic condition. Palin doesn't need to get upset that Family Guy made a direct reference to her, either.

"I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line 'I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska' was very funny. I think the word is 'sarcasm,'" Friedman told the New York Times in an e-mail. "In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life."

But leave it to The Huffington Post to have the really good burn comes after that: "My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes." Hmm, why would the New York Times edit that part out?

In her interview, Friedman added that she didn't even know Palin was angry at first, which make some sense, considering she had never seen Family Guy before recording her lines.

"I did not even know about (it) until my mom told me, 'You’re on Channel 4!' And when I watched on Channel 4, on Extra, and I saw Sarah Palin with her son Trig. I’m like, 'I’m not Trig. This is my life.' I was making fun of Sarah Palin, but not her son."

Wow, sounds like Amanda's the one with all the common sense here.
