Angelina Jolie gives birth to twins on Saturday
Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline showed up at Nice's Lenval Hospital Saturday night, via cesarean section. Knox showed up first at 6:27 p.m. local time at just a hair over 5 pounds, then Vivienne at 5 pounds exactly a minute later, E! Online reports.
"Brad and Angelina are extremely happy and everything went perfectly," Dr. Michel Sussmann told E! News. "Both of the babies are adorable and in excellent health and everyone's content and getting some much deserved rest."
While we were expecting the c-section to happen on Tuesday, Sussman told the AP the procedure was moved up "for medical reasons," whatever that may mean. Angie is expected to stay at the hospital for several more days to recover, a practice her OB/GYN says is common in Europe.
The couple "were talking, they were together" during the delivery, Sussmann said. "It was an epidural, so (Angelina) was awake and speaking and laughing. They were happy."
The doc joked Pitt was so devoted, he never left Angie's side: "He was my assistant!" Sussmann joked, adding that Brad cut both umbilical cords. "He was...perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional."
We're assuming it will be a couple of weeks until we see glossy mag pics of the newest members of Team Brangelina, but since they give the money they command for baby pics to charity, we can't find fault even with that. Hollywood at its finest!
