Anna Kournikova is replacing Jillian Michaels on 'The Biggest Loser'
NBC has finally confirmed what has been rumored for days now: Anna Kournikova will be replacing Jillian Michaels as The Biggest Loser's celebrity trainer next season, now that Michaels has said dasvidaniya to the show. Because when we think of hard-nosed, large-and-in-charge go-getters, it's a tennis pro who dominated ESPN despite never getting higher than No. 8 in singles rankings (okay, she got to No. 1 in doubles).
"She grew up with very little in Moscow, pounding tennis balls every day when she was 5," executive producer Todd Lubin told New york magazine. "That's the drive she's bringing to the show. But what's alarming about Anna is that when she really gets intense, she starts speaking Russian. And as a child of the Cold War, it scares me when she does." Hmmm ... "scary" still isn't the first word that comes to mind.
Anna did do a guest shot during season 10, so she can obviously design a workout. Also troubling is that trainers Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova also will not be returning for season 12. Throw in the fact that Anna is turning 30 on June 7 and this is a recipe for an on-air breakdown of some sort.
