Anne Hathaway's ex Follieri doesn't like prison
If you've been following the ups and downs of the life of Anne Hathaway's ex, convicted con man Raffaello Follieri (and really, who hasn't?), you be shattered to know that gee, he's not having fun in prison. Who knew?
Lawyer Flora Edwards sent a letter to a Manhattan federal judge John Koeltl complaining about the conditions his client has to tolerate, according to the New York Daily News. Edwards reports the rats are everywhere and there's poo all over the shower stalls, but that's not the problem, since Follieri and the 120 other bad apples he shares a windoless dorm with aren't allowed to clean themselves, anyway.
"He says the stench is intolerable," Edwards wrote. "Clearly no one should be subjected to these conditions."
Of course Edwards is asking Koeltl to move Follieri back to the Metropolitan Correctional Center before he has to go to some swank white-collar prison where they presumably have big-screen TVs and four choices of game birds for dinner every night. The attorney says Raf is complaining the food at the Brooklyn federal lockup appears spoiled, his medication has been confiscated and he's short of breath and running a fever.
"Although I am not a doctor, I have seen him regularly and he feels warm to the touch and his eyes are glassy," Edwards said.
Gee, we'd hate to see what he was like when he was bilking investors out of millions by pretending to be the pope's real estate agent. After blowing $37k a month on rent, even the local Days Inn probably feels like the cooler from The Great Escape.
