Apatow 'knocked up' with lawsuit

Tbdknocked060807 Canadian author Rebecca Eckler is suing NBC Universal and director Judd Apatow, saying the hit movie Knocked Up is a rip-off of her 2004 book, Knocked Up: Confessions of a Hip Mother-to-Be, the AP reports.

Eckler says the box-office darling is eerily similar to her story, but Apatow begs to differ: “The book is about a woman who gets pregnant by the fiance that she loves on the night of her engagement party,” he says. “The film is about a one-night stand between a pot-smoking slacker and an ambitious young woman that leads to a pregnancy and their attempts to get to know each other.”

So you’re familiar with the story then, Mr. Apatow — or should we call you “the accused” now?
