Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in third 'Conan' movie

The Conan the Barbarian movie trilogy you never wanted is finally going to happen, because Arnold Schwarzeneger is part of a deal with Universal Pictures to make a third movie, The Legend of Conan. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if they just pretended Conan the Destroyer never even happened. Oh wait, that's exactly what they're doing.

"After the original seminal movie, all that came after looked silly to me,” producer Chris Morgan, who came up with the idea and may write the script, told "This movie picks up Conan where Arnold is now in his life, and we will be able to use the fact that he has aged in this story. I love the property of Conan so much that I wouldn't touch it unless we came up with something worthy. We think this is a worthy successor to the original film. Think of this as Conan's Unforgiven."

Morgan wrote the last four Fast and the Furious movies, so it'll be interesting to see if he can pull off a moody and near-dialogue-free story like that. To tell the truth, The Juice* always liked the blood-and-guts 1982 original, and thought the 2011 reboot with Jason Momoa was laughably bad. A good King Conan tale as promised in the original's epilogue might just end up being worth waiting until Arnie was out of the governor's mansion to see.
