Arterton is new Bond girl; Wayans to 'G.I. Joe'
The next James Bond girl has been announced and despite popular rumors that it would be either Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen, Brit newbie Gemma Arterton gets the nod. The next flick, still only titled Bond 22 in production, will be released Nov. 7 with the 21-year-old graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in the spotlight opposite Daniel Craig, the Hollywood Reporter says.
And while that is compelling and likely deserved, more on the shocking and horrifying side is the news from Variety that Marlon Wayans has been cast in the live-action G.I. Joe movie coming in 2009. The trade paper says Wayans will play Ripcord, the leader of the military unit, which is distressing because it announces the project is already ignoring the Hasbro action-figure mythos in several ways (and the geeks out there know what those ways are).
