The battle for Paris -- BACK TO JAIL!

Tbdpariscar061107_3 As many news outlets are reporting, judge Michael T. Sauer has demanded Paris Hilton report to court at noon our time, but there has been an apparent battle between the city attorney and the Sheriff's Dept. over whether Hilton can simply call on the phone or has to appear in person. TMZ is reporting Paris has to get her skinny butt into court, so they've sent a Sheriff's Dept. vehicle to West Hollywood to get her.

Prosecutor Dan Jeffries told the site that he was never consulted about the Sheriff's decision to reassign the heirhead to house arrest until after she was released.

1 P.M. UPDATE: TMZ reports the Sheriff's Dept. refuses to pick Paris Hilton up from her house, saying judge Sauer doesn't have the authority to order her to court. The SD says it believes they are in control of the jurisdiction to monitor and control Hilton.

Tbdbaca061107 The Juice* thinks it's time to do some background checks into how well L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca (right) knows the Hilton family, because this smells all kind of awful.

1:15 P.M. UPDATE: All right folks, this is getting ridiculous. CNN and MSNBC just showed Paris being led out of her house into a Sheriff's cruiser -- allegedly IN HANDCUFFS!

This clip shows the ridiculous paparazzi chase afterward:

3 P.M. UPDATE: Paris was ordered back to jail in Lynwood to serve out the rest of her sentence. She's getting a five-day credit for time served, TMZ and the AP report. TMZ says she left the courtroom screaming, "Mom, Mom, Mom." Is that salacious enough for you?

Authorities say she is going directly to jail from the courtroom, and she is not passing GO. Oh man, this is so crazy it's almost enough to makes us feel sorry for her. Almost.

From the AP:

Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer was calm but apparently irked by the morning's developments. He said he had left the courthouse Thursday night having signed an order for Hilton to appear for the hearing.

When he got in his car early Friday, he said, he heard a radio report that he had approved Hilton's participation in the hearing by telephone, but he had not.

"I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions," he said of the decision to release Hilton from jail after three days.

"At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home on Kings Road," Sauer said.

______

The length of the sentence seems to have changed, as well:

"The defendant is remanded to county jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence," Sauer said. "This order is forthwith."

4 P.M. UPDATE: Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo issued the following statement on TMZ:

"This decision sends the message that no individual -- no matter how wealthy or powerful -- is above the law. Today, justice was served."

And word is, the enraged Hilton clan, upset it couldn't buy its baby out of jail, will appeal either later today or Monday.

4:45 P.M. UPDATE: TMZ reports that Paris is now back at the Century Regional Detention Center, where she will spend the weekend in the jail's medical ward (where she should have gone in the first place).

The site reports Team Paris will file an appeal that she is being held illegally.

More details as they develop.
