Beyonce opens up about her miscarriage in HBO documentary

The Beyonce Knowles hype machine is amped up to 11 en route to her Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, but a moment in her new HBO documentary Life Is But A Dream brings it down a notch by revealing Be's heartbreak over her miscarriage before daughter Blue Ivy was born.

"About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time, and I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life," the 31-year-old singer says in one scene, according to Us Weekly. "I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like ... I was feeling very maternal."

But then the bad news came early on. "I flew back to New York to get my check up -- and no heartbeat," she says. "Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat."

Knowles has never talked about the miscarriage before, but says she found her own way to deal with the bad news.

"I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I've ever written in my life," she says, not identifying the piece. "And it was actually the first song I wrote for my album. And it was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I've ever been through."

But dry your eyes, dear readers, because by August 2011 she was singing Love On Top at the MTV Video Music Awards and now Blue Ivy has a nursery bigger than your house. Now get ready for that Destiny's Child reunion.
