Bill Murray will play FDR in 'Hyde Park on the Hudson'

In other interesting casting news, it seems Bill Murray is going ful-blown serious actor to play Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a movie adaptation of radio play Hyde Park On the Hudson. So much for a return for Dr. Peter Venkman.

New York magazine's Vulture blog says Focus Features and Film4 are teaming up to make the Roger Michell picture, about an affair between FDR and his distant cousin, Margaret Stuckley. Well, that's a history lesson for you. The story is centered on a June 1939 weekend in upstate New York when the British king and queen visited, the first trip by the monarchy to the States. There's that history thing again.

The play's writer, Richard Nelson, is adapting his own story for the screen. This continues Murray's quest for that elusive Oscar, which he should have landed for Lost in Translation back in 2004. No, they don't tell you what he says to Scarlett Johansson, people; that's not for you to know. Deal with it.
