Billy Bob Thornton is a jerk to radio host
Billy Bob Thornton was apparently channeling Joaquin Phoenix's burnt-out jerkface mode while on CBC morning radio show Studio Q in Toronto on Wednesday, being an evasive jackass to host Jian Ghomeshi. It seems that during Ghomeshi's introduction for Thornton's band the Boxmasters, for which BBT is listed as W.R. "Bud" Thornton, he had the gall to mention that Billy Bob was a Hollywood weirdo. Good thing he disproved that!
Answering questions like how long the band had been together, Thornton answered by saying things like, "I don't know what you're talking about" and "I don't know what you mean." When Ghomeshi asked what Billy Bob had learned from Willie Nelson, the answer was "I've never met him," despite being Nelson's opening act on tour.
He also yammered on about reading sci-fi comics as a kid before finally confronting the host and telling him that he had been instructed to not talk about the actor's film career (somewhere around the seven-minute mark), a charge Jian denies.
J.D. Andrew, Mike Butler and Danny Baker must have been thrilled, especially when Thornton said he would not play a song on the show because he didn't bring his drums.
"Billy Bob clearly just had an issue with the guy," Thorton spokesman Arnold Robinson told Entertainment Weekly. "... Bottom line, we don't tell people what questions they can and cannot ask." We'd like to ask why Billy Bob was being such an idiot.
