Brad Pitt says wine made him do 'Inglorious Basterds'

Want to know why Brad Pitt would ever consider being in Quentin Tarantino's blood-soaked orgy of revenge against the Nazis, Inglorious Basterds? Booze. Lots of booze.

Tbd-bradpitt052209 The 45-year-old actor explained at the Cannes Film Festival that he had only the haziest of recollections about the discussion, media sources report.

"Quentin came to visit some time at the end of the summer, we talked about backstory, we talked about movies," Pitt said. "I get up the next morning and see five empty bottles of wine right on the floor -- five -- and something that resembles a smoking apparatus -- I don't know what that was about -- and apparently I had agreed to do this film."

Whether Pitt is the one who ends up getting scalped at the box office is up in the air.
