Brad Pitt will star in 'World War Z,' Paramount adapting more Max Brooks books

tbd-worldwarz072310.jpgIt's Comic-Con time in San Diego, so while we wait and hope Olivia Munn wears more outrageous superheroine outfits, we've got some crazy zombie news: Not only has Brad Pitt's Plan B production company have the rights to Max Brooks' World War Z (which we knew), it looks like the actor is planning to star in it (which we didn't)! Rumor, you say? Nope, straight from the author's mouth.

"I can't believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been," Brooks told MTV. He says the movie, which boasts of screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski -- and rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan -- is slated for a summer 2012 release. That'll give you plenty of time to read the Juice*-favorite oral history-style novel about the survivors of a zombie apocalypse.

"I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can," Brooks added. "I'm so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team." That sounds positive, since Paramount is looking to adapt Brooks' The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks comic book, too. Of course, Frank Herbert liked what David Lynch was doing to Dune, too.
