Brandon Routh may join AMC's zombie yarn 'The Walking Dead'

Tbd-brandonrouth041410 Real Juice*heads will know what big zombie fans we are here, so we're giddy with the recent news that AMC has picked up Robert Kirkman's graphic novel The Walking Dead for a short season of brain-eating, head-shooting fun this October. But now there are rumors erstwhile Superman Brandon Routh is joining the fun! says Routh may play an unspecified role in the Frank Darabont-produced series, which was picked up for six episodes that will begin their run during the network's traditional Fearfest in October. The comic series follows a Kentucky police officer named Rick Grimes who rallies a group of survivors in a zombie-plagued America.

After directing the pilot, which will star Andrew Lincoln as Grimes and Jon Bernthal as partner Shane, Darabont will join Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert and Dexter writer Charles Eglee as a producer. This means the possibly best new drama series on basic cable this fall will feature a cast of mostly dead people. What does that say about network TV these days?
