Brandon Routh's 'Superman' contract expired

Tbd-brandonrouth070809 Since everyone thought that Superman Returns was such a great success, Brandon Routh said that Warner Bros. has been nice enough to let his contract run out. Guess that pooh-poohs a sequel, huh?

“The term of the contract expired,” Routh said on Spanish-language Web site Omelete. “But if they call me again, (I'd go) back to the character without thinking twice!” Yeah, steady work does that to you.

Word around the campfire is that Warner Bros. is planning a Batman-style reboot with a grittier feel, MTV News says. They probably wouldn't need a Christopher Reeve mimic for something like that.

“I do not know of anything,” Rou said. “I’m sure that Warner Bros. is moving there, but everything is still uncertain. Really, I do not know anything.”

We wouldn't go advertising that fact too loudly, BR.
