Britney Spears is checking up on Mel Gibson
We've been wondering if anyone would come to Mel Gibson's aid in his current unemployable state, and one has: Our beloved Britney Spears. Because if there's one person who knows about self-destructive behavior and bad relationships, it's ol' Brit-Brit.
A source tells the National Enquirer that "she's never forgotten his kindness" after Gibson helped her get back on track after her well-publicized public meltdown in 2008 (has it been that long?), so she's checking up on him daily: "She leaves messages reminding him how they prayed together and telling him that it did her a lot of good," the source said. "She's convinced that he's listening to her prayers, and those prayers will now help him."
There are plenty of personal reasons she's taking the 54-year-old's side in his battle with baby mama Oksana Grigorieva, and not just because she knows what it's like to be addicted to mind-altering substances.
"Britney feels Mel is being dragged through the mud, and she knows how that feels," the source said. "She also sees Oksana as a user who had a baby with Mel for money and fame. She believes Oksana is playing the victim, just like her ex-husband Kevin Federline did."
Well, except Oksana has recording and photographs documenting just how abusive Mel has allegedly been. But it's Britney, so we can't expect her to really be able to work out the finer details of the situation.
