Britney Spears could really end up committed
SUNDAY UPDATE: Don't expect to hear much about Britney Spears the next couple of weeks — the AP reports her stay at the UCLA Medical Center has been extended for another 14 days. An unnamed source said doctors determined her condition was so bad she should stick around.
TMZ says Spears has been classified as “gravely disabled,” meaning she is unable to fulfill basic needs, such as getting her own food, clothing and shelter. TMZ also warns that being classified “G.D.” is a criterion for involuntary commitment. Sources tell the site Spears is now in a “manic state” resulting from a bipolar disorder.
She’s in good hands, though: her new psychiatrist, Dr. Deborah Nadel, a University of California Medical School grad, did her residency at UCLA, the site reports. It’s about time Britney listened to someone who knew what they were talking about (we're looking at you, Dr. Phil McGraw).
